Behind every rescue dog is a story of hope and unexpected love. Unleashed Hearts was created to honor exactly that.

This limited edition photography and storytelling project celebrates the rescue dogs who have transformed the lives of the people who love them. This book will feature 50 incredible rescue dogs whose journeys began with uncertainty but who found their forever in the hearts and homes of families like yours.

Each dog will be showcased in a stunning two page spread, pairing soulful portraits with the heartfelt story of their journey. This project honors the quiet strength of rescue dogs, their resilience, their loyalty, and the love they give so freely.

If your rescue pup has touched your heart, now is the time to share their story.

Until one has loved an animal, a part of one’s soul remains unawakened.

HOW IT WORKS:

  • STEP 1: COMPLETE THE APPLICATION

Fill out the Application so I can learn more about why you would like to be part of this charity project as well as learn more about what type of dog you have, You can find the application here

  • STEP 2: THE consultation

We will have a phone consultation with the selected dogs to learn more about your dog’s personality as well as which location would work best for you and your dog. After the call, you will be asked to answer some questions so we can be sure to tell your dogs story and how they have changed your life.

  • STEP 3: The session

The shoot. I will spend time capturing the perfect shots of your soul dog needed to finish the concept identified in the consultation.

After the photoshoot is complete, retouching and post production begin, where many days are spent carefully working to create something truly iconic and unique. Once editing has finished, we’ll then move into…

  • Step 4: The reveal

Time to see your finished gallery of images! You will see your finished edited images from your session. This is where you will have the opportunity to purchase any portraits.

Our Partner!

We are partnering with A Place for Ace for this exciting book project!

A few words from it’s founder Meagan:

A Place for Ace was launched in 2018 as a response to the animal crisis in Texas. In San Antonio, hundreds of dogs are euthanized each month at the local shelter. These are healthy, adoptable dogs, who are killed simply because the shelter is making space for more strays. The overpopulation crisis in not unique to Texas, unfortunately, the shelters across the south are overflowing with amazing pups due to spay and neuter policies not being enforced.

Something our organization learned very early on, is, that a dog’s behavior in the shelter is not indicative of his/her true potential. A dog who: bites, growls, snaps, or retreats in fear in a shelter cage, is a dog who is terrified for his fate. Animals know when something is wrong, and when their time is up. The shelter is not a place to get a good read on an animal’s true behavior. We have made an effort to take the dogs who are being passed over due to fear. Many people want to adopt the friendly dogs with tails wagging, but the scared/shut down dogs almost always get euthanized first– those are the dogs we specialize in saving.

A Place for Ace takes mostly small-medium sized dogs that are victims of abuse and neglect. We pride ourselves on being able to handle challenging behavior thanks to our amazing dedicated foster team. Our mascot, ‘Ace’ was a stray Beagle from Arkansas who lived in the woods alone for the first few months of his life. Despite his challenging behaviors that stemmed from being a stray for so long, he was able to thrive, and enjoy his time in a home. I adopted him when I was going through a dark time in my life, and he essentially not only saved me, but inspired me to start a dog rescue. His legacy lives on through our mission and in our hearts. There is a Place for every “Ace”–the dogs who are fear reactive, the dogs who won’t look you in the eye for fear of being hit, the dogs who have been left behind or labeled damaged goods. We have saved over 650 pups from the shelters and streets of Texas since 2018-We hope to continue our work and save even more dogs with the help of this book project!!!
